Tyron has been a journalist for more than 15 years, working as a reporter and editor at Rural Press, Fairfax, News Corp and SBS News. During that time he’s occupied roles ranging from NSW state political reporter to digital editor and has found himself in a plethora of interesting situations from embedding with Australian Army special forces to hanging around with bikies through to nabbing the coveted role of travelling pub reviewer.

He’s a career-long member of the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance and has been a union delegate in almost every newsroom he’s worked in and in 2019 was elected to the MEAA Federal Council’s media section.

In 2020, Tyron took the next step and left journalism to become a union organiser for MEAA, organising journalists across NSW and ACT.

He joined the Benevolent Fund in 2021 and is passionate about helping journalists in need, especially in regional areas and those from a Language Other Than English or migrant background.
